Bomb alert at the São João Novo Court halts trial of dockworkers involved with the PCC

The São João Novo Court, in Porto, was evacuated following a bomb alert, shortly before the start of another session of the trial of seven dockers from Leixões accused of receiving 40 thousand euros to facilitate the entry of cocaine sent from Brazil by the PCC (First Command of the Capital).

According to Jornal de Notícias, shortly before the session dedicated to hearing the last witnesses and the final arguments in the trial of several port infrastructure employees, controlled by one of the largest drug importers in Porto whose right-hand man was a member of the Brazilian mafia PCC, the court received three phone calls with bomb threats.

The morning session was scheduled to start at 9.30am and was not started, as the court facilities were evacuated and the PSP Mines and Traps Brigade was called.

The inspection of the court ended at 12:08 pm, with no explosive device or any other suspicious object being found. The court resumed its normal activity at 1:30 pm.

By decision of the presiding judge in the cocaine trafficking case, the hearing was resumed, with the hearing of a witness. Two others notified to give testimony were absent, and it was unknown, at 2:45 pm, whether there would be any final arguments.

A criminal organization linked to the extinct Valbom gang and a member of the Brazilian mafia paid seven dockers from the Port of Leixões to unload hundreds of kilos of cocaine, hidden in maritime containers, coming from South America. The group, made up of 13 members, is accused of criminal association, trafficking, money laundering and possession of weapons.
