Public consultation on the concession of the Port of Santos canal runs until May 2

A National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) will open, starting next Tuesday (17), a public consultation and hearing to receive contributions from society and the port sector on the process of granting the port access channel Port of Santos. The deadline for submitting suggestions is 11:59 pm on May 2nd.

According to the regulatory agency, the initiative aims to improve the technical and legal documents that will support the future bidding for the channel concession. The proposal also seeks to expand the debate with operators, experts, authorities and others interested in the topic.

According to Antaq, contributions must be directly related to the draft documents made available during the public consultation period. The material will serve as the basis for the public hearing that will be held later to deepen the discussion on the project.

Manifestations must be sent exclusively using an electronic form available on the municipality’s website. The agency also informed that additional digital files, such as maps, plans and photographs, can be sent by email [email protected].

The access channel concession process is considered strategic for the future of the Port of Santos, the main port complex in Latin America. The initiative is part of discussions on new management models and investments in infrastructure, with a focus on expanding operational capacity, improving logistical efficiency and attracting private investments.

The expectation is that the contributions received during the public consultation period will help to improve the concession model and bring greater legal and technical security to the bidding process.
