From symbol of pollution to environmental model: the transformation of Cubatão

Known worldwide in the 1980s as one of the most polluted places on the planet, the city of Cubatão Today, we live in a completely different reality. Recent data indicate that the municipality currently has one of the best air quality in the state of São Pauloconsolidating a historic turn in the environmental scenario.

The change is the result of a long restructuring process that involved strict control of industrial emissions, investments in technology and continuous inspection by environmental agencies. Companies located in the region began to adopt stricter operating standards, significantly reducing the release of pollutants into the atmosphere.
