DOF’s 2010-built vessel staying longer with Equinor in Norwegian waters

Norway’s state-owned energy giant Equinor has prolonged an assignment, which is being carried out on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) by one of the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels owned by DOF Group, a compatriot operator of a fleet of advanced vessels for the energy and marine sectors.

DOF has confirmed a contract extension for the AHTS Skandi Vega with Equinor. As a result, the vessel will stay for two more years with the Norwegian giant, keeping the ship occupied until Q3 2029.

Mons S. AaseCEO of DOF Group, commented: “We are happy to see Skandi Vega extended for two years, building further on an already very strong backlog for DOF for the coming years.

“The vessel has been with Equinor since it was built in 2010, and we are delighted to continue to bring value to them by delivering first-class services.”

The 2010-built AHTS Skandi Vega was designed for deepwater anchor handling during demanding environmental conditions. The vessel’s first gig with Equinor began 16 years ago.

This vessel is 109 meters long, with a working moonpool, a working deck area of 1,070 square meters, an anchor recovery frame, a main winch capacity of 500 tonnes, a secondary one of 170 tonnes, and a bollard pull of 350 tonnes.

The contract extension with Equinor comes shortly after DOF obtained a contract with TotalEnergies for subsea construction, mooring, disconnection of an existing floating storage and offloading unit (FSO), and connection of a replacement FSO.
