Equinor has extended its agreement with CHC Helikopter Service for personnel transport and search and rescue services in Central Norway until 2030 by exercising two options worth NOK 1.7 billion ($177 million) from February 1, 2028, to January 31, 2030.

The company operates the Sikorsky S-92 type helicopters for Equinor in Central Norway, including from Kristiansund with two passenger helicopters and one back-up search and rescue (SAR) helicopter; Brønnøysund with one passenger helicopter, also used for medical evacuation; and Heidrun with one SAR helicopter on the installation.

CHC will now continue to provide helicopter services from bases in Kristiansund and Brønnøysund, in addition to search and rescue services at Heidrun. The contract provides predictability for maintaining current helicopter preparedness and capacity throughout the option period.

The latest extension ensures the continued provision of helicopter capacity, which is perceived as essential for safe personnel transport and emergency preparedness for Equinor’s operations in the region.

Mette OttøySenior Vice President for Joint Operations Support at Equinor, commented: “Safe transportation of personnel to and from our installations is a prerequisite for safe operations.

“With this extension, we are securing robust and predictable helicopter services in Central Norway until 2030. This is a region with a high level of activity for Equinor.”
