Bureau Veritas (BV) has classed M/T MODI, a 73,500 dwt crude and product oil tanker built by New Times Shipbuilding (NTS) for Greek shipowner Dynacom.
The vessel was delivered in June. It is based on an in-house NTS design and is intended for the transport of both crude oil and refined petroleum products.
M/T MODI measures 228 metres in length, with a beam of 32.2 metres, a moulded depth of 20.8 metres and a design draft of 12.2 metres.
The tanker is designed for worldwide trading. It complies with the requirements of both the original and expanded Panama Canal. The vessel also meets current standards for safety, operational performance and environmental protection.
BV awarded the vessel its CLEANSHIP and GREEN PASSPORT EU class notations. These recognize measures that support environmental performance during operation and ship recycling.
The tanker is also BIOFUEL-READY, allowing future use of sustainable biofuels to help reduce carbon emissions.
To strengthen operational safety and digital resilience, M/T MODI complies with BV’s CYBER RESILIENT requirements. The vessel has also received the SYS-NEQ-1 notation for one-man bridge control and the AUT-PORT notation for auto-docking.
In addition, the tanker features an LNGFUEL-PREPARED design, allowing a future conversion to LNG propulsion.
BV said it has built a long-standing partnership with New Times Shipbuilding. The two companies have delivered more than 40 BV-classed newbuildings, including bulk carriers, crude and product tankers, and ultra-large container ships.
The classification society also continues to support Dynacom’s global newbuilding programme, which includes Kamsarmax bulk carriers, Suezmax tankers, and LR1 and LR2 product tankers.
