Carisbrooke Shipping has formed a strategic partnership with Royal Wagenborg, which will see the pair add up to 10 7,400 dwt vessels. As part of the company’s ongoing fleet renewal programme. Carisbrooke has also launched Heleen C, a 7,720 dwt general cargo vessel.
Designed to bolster Wagenborg’s position in the Baltic region, the 7,400 dwt ice-class 1A vessels will join the Netherlands-headquartered firm’s fleet. The newbuilds will gradually replace older vessels and bring down the age of Wagenborg’s fleet.
As part of the partnership, UK-based Carisbrooke will manage the technical and crewing operations, with Wagenborg responsible for commercial management and chartering activities.
Fleet renewal programme
Heleen C is the second launch this year within Carisbrooke’s ongoing fleet renewal programme, having taken delivery of its sister vessel, Greta C, earlier this year. Heleen C was launched at Royal T Shipyards in Kampen, the Netherlands.
The vessel measures 136.4 m x 21.2 m x 11.3 m. It also has an optimised hull design and improved fuel efficiency, according to Carisbrooke.
Designed for European trading, Heleen C features environmentally friendly technology such as diesel-electric propulsion, cold ironing capability and an innovative energy management system.
