Cyprus-headquartered SeaBird Exploration, a wholly owned subsidiary of SED Energy Holdings, has through its subsidiary secured a contract for a 2D seismic survey offshore India.
The company’s Eagle Explorer will begin mobilization in mid-July, with the project expected to keep the vessel utilized through the first half of 2027.
The 2009-built vessel was previously assigned to work in the Western Hemisphere, scheduled until mid-May.
“We are pleased to secure this new project for Eagle Explorer, further strengthening our backlog and providing increased visibility into 2027. The award reflects continued demand for high-quality 2D seismic data, supported by an increasing focus on energy security and resource development across the region,” said Find Atle HamreCEO of SeaBird.
“We continue to see strong demand for our services in India and the broader Asia-Pacific region, and this contract positions Eagle Explorer well for additional opportunities going forward.”
Eagle Explorer, which can operate as either a 3D, 2D, or source vessel, joined SeaBird’s fleet in 2018. The vessel features 6600 kW diesel-electric propulsion, four Wärtsilä 9L26 3060KW engines and one Wärtsilä 6L26 1950kW @1000 Rpm engine.
