SAL’s fully owned and managed semi-submersible heavy transport vessel (HTV) Luisa has executed its first loading operation, transporting barges from the Netherlands to Uruguay.
The project involved the float-on transport of the inland barges Scaldis and Duandra from the Netherlands to Uruguay. Every stage, including engineering and project management to marine operations and vessel execution, was managed by one integrated SAL Offshore team.
HLPFI reported in September 2025 that SAL had expanded its deck carrier fleet with the acquisition of Luisa (formerly Sun Shine) and Alma (formerly Sun Rise), from former owner Pan Ocean. Both vessels are now commercially operated as part of the JSI Alliance.
Built in 2008, the 17,113-dwt Luisa has a deck size of 148 m x 48 m.
