Interport Global appoints Anthony Donald as CEO

Interport Global has appointed Anthony Donald as its new Chief Executive Officer to lead the development of Project Velocity, the company’s proposed US$20 billion infrastructure investment programme in Central Queensland.

Project Velocity aims to transform Gladstone into a major freight and logistics hub through investments in ports, shipping, energy infrastructure, industrial facilities, cold storage, and road and rail networks.

Among the planned developments are an inland road and rail port at Calliope, a 48,000m² cold storage and reefer container facility, an advanced manufacturing industrial park, renewable energy infrastructure and expanded shipping services connecting Central Queensland with Asia.

“Gladstone is perfectly positioned to join Australia’s ranks as an international freight hub,” said Anthony Donald. “It is one of the best deep channel ports in Australia and is well placed to receive Ultra Large Container Vessels. Its ability to integrate with both coastal shipping and rail networks would be second to none in this country.”

Donald brings more than 20 years of experience in the ports, logistics and infrastructure sectors, most recently serving as Chief Executive Officer of TasPorts. His previous roles include senior executive positions at the Port of Melbourne and Melbourne Airport, where he led several major infrastructure projects.

“Anthony brings a rare combination of operational, strategic and governance experience across ports, aviation and major infrastructure,” said Leon Allen, Chair of Interport Global. “His deep sector expertise and proven ability to drive change will ensure the creation of long-term value for the company.”
