Hapag-Lloyd raises peak season surcharge on North Europe-US trade

Lloyd’s table has announced an updated Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments from Northern Europe to the United States as demand on the trade continues to strengthen.

The revised surcharge will apply to all dry, reefer and special containers on sailings commencing from 10 August 2026 until further notice.

Under the updated tariff, the carrier will charge a PSS of US$500 per TEU across all container types.

Hapag-Lloyd said the Ocean Tariff rates, bunker-related surcharges, security-related surcharges and terminal handling charges remain unchanged, while local and contingency charges may also apply depending on the shipment.
