The demonstration ended in a confrontation between protesters and military police, mobilizing security teams and causing direct repercussions on the logistical operation of the largest port complex in Latin America.
According to information from the Military Police, the intervention occurred after one of the participants in the demonstration threw a stone at a vehicle.
As the situation escalated, agents used stun bombs and tear gas to disperse the protesters and restore order to the area.
During the operation, there were records of injured people and scenes of rushing, while trucks remained stopped on the access roads to the port. The images recorded during the mobilization show the climate of tension experienced in the region and the impact of the strike on port routine.
The strike also caused congestion and slowdowns on the main access routes to the Port of Santos, affecting the flow of trucks responsible for transporting import and export cargo.
Logistics companies and port operators monitored the situation throughout the day, evaluating possible impacts on operational programming.
Truck drivers claim that the strike’s main objective is to pressure the Federal Senate to vote on the Provisional Freight Measure, considered one of the category’s main demands.
The movement brings together independent professionals who advocate changes to the rules of road freight transport and greater legal security for the sector.
The expectation is that new mobilizations will occur if there is no progress in the negotiations. Meanwhile, authorities continue to monitor the situation to minimize impacts on the operation of the Port of Santos and ensure security in access areas to the port complex.
