Norwegian Shares More on Recent Jade and Gem Upgrades – Cruise Industry News

Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled more details about new and reimagined spaces aboard the recently refurbished Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Gem.

The two ships underwent routine drydocks in Aprilresuming service in May.

“Listening to our guests and delivering exceptional experiences across our fleet is at the heart of what we do,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“These recent transformations bring some of our most beloved amenities to Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Gem, creating greater consistency across our fleet while giving guests more ways to personalize their vacation — from adults-only outdoor spaces to serene relaxation areas designed to help them unwind at sea.”

On both ships, the refreshed Thermal Suite in the Mandara Spa and Salon features more hot tile loungers, a more centralized layout with an upgraded reception area and updated steam rooms and saunas.

New experiences have also been added, including:

  • A Charcoal Sauna that uses a radiant heat system with an outer charcoal layer
  • An Ice Room with cold air
  • The Salt Room
  • An IV Lounge
  • Four-Senses Loungers

Additionally, the Jade got brand-new Experiential Showers, with multiple water jets and lighting effects, as well as a Plunge Pool for brief cold-water immersion.

On the Gem, the hot tub and Thalassotherapy pool were updated.

The Vibe Beach Club was also added to both ships, repurposing the existing sundeck on deck 14 into a space with over 50 lounge chairs and seven new private cabanas.

Finally, an all-new licensed Starbucks store was added to the Jade.

The Jade is sailing seven-day itineraries from Vancouver, British Columbia and Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska now through late summer 2026.

Meanwhile, the Gem offers sailings to Mediterranean and Greek Isles with voyages departing from Rome (Civitavecchia) or Venice (Ravenna), Italy while visiting ports such as Cannes, France; Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy; Split and Dubrovnik, Croatia.

In late 2026, the Gem will offer cruises to the Caribbean and Bahamas from Tampa, Fla., while the Jade will reposition to Asia.
