Best Buy named Duane Scarboro as chief fulfillment and operations officer, effective immediately, according to a July 14 press release.

In his new role, Scarboro will oversee sourcing, supply chain, fulfillment, delivery, service and execution in stores, per the press release.

Scarboro first joined Best Buy in 2003 and most recently served as SVP of supply chain distribution operations, responsible for all distribution center operations, engineering and automation solutions, according to his company bio. Prior to Best Buy, Scarboro held leadership positions at J.C. Penney.

Scarboro’s promotion was one of several the electronics retailer announced this month as incoming CEO Jason Bonfig prepares to take the helm of the company.

The leadership changes come as Best Buy looks to improve order accuracy and enable faster shipping capabilities.

In 2024, the retailer announced plans to expand and upgrade its distribution center footprint, including rolling out autonomous guided vehicles at a facility in New York and opening a delivery distribution center in Texas. The Texas facility, the 20th such site in the company’s network, is meant to drive faster shipping by refilling store inventory and offering a wide range of options for next-day delivery.

Also on the delivery front, Best Buy named FedEx as its primary parcel carrier last year. The electronics retailer said at the time FedEx’s Sunday delivery capabilities and real-time tracking data were advantages.
