Royal Caribbean: Big Ambitions for Celebrity River Entry – Cruise Industry News

Royal Caribbean Group executives pointed to Celebrity River as an emerging growth engine on the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call, citing premium pricing and crossover interest from the group’s flagship ocean brand.

Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty said the river product was central to a broader strategy of deepening guest loyalty across the portfolio.

New destination experiences like Celebrity River were “fueling our vision of transitioning from a vacation of a lifetime to a lifetime of vacations,” Liberty said.

Liberty said the company held “high ambitions” for the company’s entry to the river business and was drawing on an established base of guests seeking a more elevated river experience.

“We’re effectively miniaturizing an Edge Class ship and putting it on River,” Liberty said, adding that the look, feel and onboard experience were what Celebrity guests wanted.

Paired with elevated shoreside programming, he said, that formula was generating organic demand and commanding a premium.

“We’re seeing pricing that is higher than what we see in the competitive set for river,” he said.

“For us to be able to offer them another vacation experience that is typically not a substitute, it’s an additional vacation, we feel very encouraged by that level of demand,” Liberty said.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said the response had reached beyond Celebrity’s core following.

“We also see a lot of interest from the Royal Caribbean guests for Celebrity River, which is really great news,” Bayley said. “It’s been very positive, the response to this new product.”
