Portonave announces the inclusion of the ZIM Gulf Toucan line, which will connect Navegantes to the Caribbean

Portonave, a port terminal located in Navegantes, Santa Catarina, announced this Friday (30) the expansion of its services with the inclusion of the ZIM Gulf Toucan (ZGT) line. The service is operated by shipping company ZIM Integrated Shipping Services and connects the east coast of South America to important logistics hubs in the Caribbean, the east coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the company, the new line will have a weekly frequency and will have eight ships in operation. The calls include ports in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, as well as strategic terminals in Jamaica, Colombia, Mexico and the United States, expanding logistical options for exporters and importers in the southern region of the country.

Portonave’s expectation is that ZGT will mainly transport cargo such as wood and derivatives, paper and cellulose, machinery, common metals, chemicals, frozen meats and other foods. The operation will be carried out under a Vessel Sharing Agreement (VSA), a model in which shipowners share ships in the same service. In this agreement, ZIM acts as the service leader, while Ocean Network Express contracts space on the vessels.

Founded in 2007 as the first private port terminal in Brazil, Portonave reached fourth place in the national ranking for the movement of full containers on long-haul ships in 2025, with a share of 9% of the country’s total volume. In the institutional field, the terminal also stood out when it received the Diamond Sustainability Seal from the Ministry of Ports and Airports, being recognized as the eighth best large company to work for in Santa Catarina.
