According to the most up-to-date version of the technical studies, the project envisages the execution of the works and services necessary to deepen the canal in two stages. In the initial phase, the depth will be increased to 16 meters. In a second phase, interventions are planned to continue to reach 17 meters in depth.
The concession proposal aims to ensure adequate depth levels over time, increasing navigation safety and allowing the operation of larger vessels. The expectation is that the new model will bring greater predictability, operational efficiency and reduced logistical risks for shipowners and port operators.
With the opening of the public consultation, the project will be submitted for input from society, port sector agents and other interested parties, before forwarding the next stages of the concession process.
