Containers fall on board the “Bangkok Express” in Rotterdam.

Several empty containers fell from the deck of the container ship “Bangkok Express” during its call at the APM Maasvlakte II terminals in the port of Rotterdam.

According to available information, part of the containers ended up hitting the “K Lotus” barge, which was operating alongside the container ship at the time of the incident. Material damage was reported, but there is no indication of injuries or any spillage associated with the incident.

After the episode, the “Bangkok Express” continued its journey on February 7, heading to Salalah, in Oman. The ship, operated by Hapag-Lloyd, is a state-of-the-art container ship, with a capacity of 23,660 TEU and an LNG propulsion system (twin).

The case once again highlights the importance of safety and handling routines during dock operations, especially on high-intensity scales and with several work fronts simultaneously.
