Maersk introduces emergency inland fuel surcharge across Nordic region

Maersk will introduce a temporary Emergency Inland Fuel/Energy Surcharge for inland shipments across the Nordic region, citing higher fuel costs linked to the evolving situation in the Middle East.

The surcharge will take effect on 8 July 2026 and will apply to all Store Door (SD) shipments with a Price Calculation Date (PCD) of 8 July or later.

The temporary surcharge will apply as follows:

  • Denmark: 4%
  • Finland: 4%
  • Latvia: 3%
  • Estonia: 3%
  • Lithuania: 1%
  • Sweden: 0%
  • Norway: 0%

The measure affects inland shipments in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

Maersk noted that electric truck and rail transport solutions are not currently affected. The carrier added that the surcharge will be reviewed weekly and adjusted if market conditions change.
