Italian cabling giant Prysmian has put into operation a new, latest-generation heavy-duty plough developed by the UK’s SMD, stating that it is its most powerful and largest so far.
The plough is one of two that have been procured from SMD and will be used for burying power cables at a maximum of five meters beneath mean seabed level, Prysmian reported.
The tool will be deployed on the company’s cable-laying vessels (CLVs) Monna Lisa and Alessandro Volta.
“With accuracy, precision and efficiency, the tool enhances our ability to tackle increasingly challenging seabed conditions and achieve cable burial depths of up to five meters, depending on seabed characteristics,” said Peter WatsonMiddlesbrough Marine base & Offshore Subsea Assets at Prysmian.
