Cubatão takes the lead and creates an unprecedented model for managing the SDGs in Brazil

The municipality of Cubatão positions itself as a national reference in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by adopting innovative and structured measures to integrate the 2030 Agenda into local public policies.

The holding of the first SDG municipal conference marks an important step in this process. The event will bring together civil society, experts and authorities to discuss strategies and present a detailed diagnosis of the municipality in relation to the 169 goals established by the UN.

Among the most relevant advances is the creation of the SDG Municipal Council with its own fund, an unprecedented initiative in Brazil. The measure guarantees not only governance, but also financial capacity to execute projects aimed at sustainable development.

Another strategic point is the signing of a technical cooperation agreement aimed at the commercialization of carbon credits. Based on recent legislation, the municipality paves the way to raise resources and finance environmental actions, reinforcing its vanguard position.

Historically recognized for its environmental recovery, Cubatão is now expanding its role by structuring public policies aligned with global sustainability demands, consolidating itself as an example for other Brazilian cities.
