Cubatão takes the lead and announces unprecedented conference on SDGs in Brazil

The municipality of Cubatão reinforces its national role in the sustainability agenda by announcing, first hand, the holding of its 1st Municipal Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), scheduled for March 31st.

The information was confirmed in an exclusive interview with the team at Integration 5.0 program by the deputy mayor of the municipality, who also coordinates strategic actions linked to the SDGs. According to her, the event will be a historic milestone not only for the city, but for Brazil, bringing together public authorities, civil society and experts in an intensive program, from 9am to 5pm, at the Cultural Block.

During the conference, concrete advances will be presented, such as the creation of the SDG Municipal Council with its own fund, an unprecedented initiative in the country. The structure will allow not only planning, but also the effective execution of public policies aligned with the 169 goals established by the UN in the 2030 Agenda.

Another highlight will be the launch of a platform with a complete diagnosis of the municipality, allowing the population to follow, in a transparent way, the stage of development of Cubatão in each of the global goals.

The program also includes the signing of a Technical Cooperation Agreement aimed at the generation and commercialization of carbon credits, based on legislation approved in 2024. The measure paves the way for the municipality to capture resources and expand investments in sustainability.

Internationally recognized for its environmental recovery, Cubatão is now taking a new step by structuring a robust and innovative public policy, consolidating itself as a national reference in the implementation of the SDGs and showing that planning, governance and social engagement are fundamental for sustainable development.
