Hapag-Lloyd announces GRI on North Europe-US trade

Lloyd’s table will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from Northern Europe to the United States, effective for containers gated in full from 10 August 2026 until further notice.

The GRI applies to dry, reefer and special containers across the trade.

For 20-foot dry containers, the carrier will increase base rates by US$400. Examples include Hamburg to New York, Bremerhaven to Houston and London Gateway to Los Angeles, where rates will rise to US$3,075, US$3,075 and US$3,025, respectively.

For 40-foot dry containers, base rates will increase by US$800. Rates from Hamburg to New York and Bremerhaven to Houston will rise to US$4,050, while the rate from London Gateway to Los Angeles will increase to US$4,000.

The revised rates will remain in effect until further notice.
