The Polish operator PCC Intermodal has signed an agreement releasing nearly 30 million euros in EU co-financing for a new terminal in Ropczyce, Poland. By 2029, the facility should boost the modal shift and increase transport capacity to and from Ukraine.
The EU committed funds to the PCC Intermodal project already in February 2026, but the operator only signed an agreement recently. Consequently, project implementation can really commence now.
PCC Intermodal’s project envisages a new intermodal terminal with overhead cranes, reachstackers and empty handlery. This should help develop intermodal transport in Poland’s southeast and subsequently shift more freight from road to rail in the region. By virtue of the future terminal’s location, it will also help to increase the capacity of transport to and from Ukraine.
The main objective, however, is the development of the TEN-T network. The Ropczyce terminal should increase capacity on the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and support intermodal logistics in the Baltic-Black Sea-Aegean Sea region, said PCC Intermodal. The total value of the terminal investment is around 85 million euros.
