Norcoast expands operations and includes the Port of Rio de Janeiro on a cabotage route

Norcoast expanded its cabotage network with the inclusion of Rio Brasil Terminal (RBT), in the Port of Rio de Janeiro, on its regular navigation route. The first operation was carried out with the ship NC Breda, marking the beginning of the new call, aimed at transporting domestic cargo and feeder services.

With this new development, the Port of Rio de Janeiro is now part of a route that connects Manaus (AM), Pecém (CE), Suape (PE), Salvador (BA), Santos (SP), Paranaguá (PR), Itajaí (SC) and the Rio de Janeiro terminal.

The inclusion strengthens the logistical connection between the Manaus Free Trade Zone and the Southeast, in addition to expanding transport options for shippers in the region, offering greater operational predictability, flexibility and integration between maritime, rail and road modes.

The operation will also allow the service of cargo originating in Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and the interior of São Paulo. The expectation is to offer greater efficiency in transport, expand the company’s logistics coverage and encourage the use of cabotage as an alternative for cargo movement in the country.

“We want to expand the capillarity of cabotage, expanding the service portfolio and the service network in a consistent and sustainable way. We are following the demand in these sectors and are betting on generating value through increased supply, encouraging cabotage and regional development”, stated in a note, Marcio Salmi, commercial director at Norcoast.

According to the company, the expansion is part of Norcoast’s growth strategy, which aims to expand its presence in the national market and meet demand from segments such as consumer goods, steel and beverages.

RBT’s CEO, Roberto Lopes dos Santos, stated that Norcoast’s arrival reinforces the terminal’s role in national logistics integration and contributes to strengthening cabotage in the sector.
