The Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP) reached a new operational milestone in the first half of 2026. The unit handled 835 thousand TEUs between January and June, establishing the highest volume ever recorded for the period since the beginning of terminal operations. The result represents growth in 4% compared to the 803 thousand TEUs handled in the same period in 2025.
The performance reinforces the strategic position of the Port of Paranaguá in Brazilian foreign trade, especially in the export chains of agro-industrial products, refrigerated cargo and industrialized goods.

According to TCP, the advance was mainly sustained by the increase in the movement of full containers, both in exports and imports.
Shipments registered growth of 10%passing from 3.816 million tons to 4.180 million tons. The landings have already advanced 9%leaving 1.503 million tons to 1.635 million tons not annual comparative.
Among the segments that contributed most to the result are:
- Meat and frozen foods: export of 2.031 million tonsgrowth of 16%;
- Paper and cellulose: increase in 9% in shipments;
- Automotive sector: prominence in imports, with an increase in 8%;
- Consumer goods: growth of 10% on imports.
One of the main highlights of the semester was the operation of refrigerated containers (reefer), a segment considered strategic for Brazilian agribusiness.
TCP surpassed the benchmark for the first time 70 thousand refrigerated containers moved in one semesterconsolidating Paranaguá as one of the main logistical corridors for the export of animal proteins and frozen products.
The specialized structure for refrigerated cargo is a competitive advantage for the terminal, especially to serve international markets with strict temperature control and traceability requirements.
The result occurs in a scenario of strong competition between the main Brazilian ports to attract containerized cargo.
For sector experts, TCP’s growth demonstrates the importance of continuous investments in infrastructure, operational technology and logistics integration to increase the efficiency of Brazilian terminals.
The ability to serve large volumes, offer regular maritime connections and guarantee operational efficiency has become a decisive factor for exporting and importing companies when choosing ports.
TCP’s performance reinforces the role of the Paraná port complex as one of the main exit doors for Brazilian products destined for the international market.
With a strong presence in the agribusiness, automotive industry and manufacturing sectors, the terminal continues to expand its participation in the national movement of containers.
The new record for 835 thousand TEUs in the first half of 2026 shows that Brazilian port competition continues to expand and that investments in capacity, technology and operational efficiency will be increasingly decisive in defining the sector’s leaders.
