In a statement published on its website, CMA CGM said it will apply an emergency fuel surcharge due to the intensification of the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. The additional fee will apply from August 1st.
“Following the renewed escalation of hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, fuel prices have risen sharply again, reversing the downward trend observed in recent weeks. As a result, bunker costs have increased significantly in all regions and routes, impacting the total cost of maritime transport,” said the French shipowner.
