All 73 wind turbines at the 1,022 MW Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan are now installed and generating electricity, with the project advancing towards full commercial operation in 2027.
Northland Power, which holds a 30.6 per cent stake in the offshore wind farm alongside Mitsui & Co. (40 per cent) and Gentari International Renewables (29.4 per cent), said on 15 October that the project was still awaiting final permitting approvals, which are expected in the first half of 2027.
Hai Long, located approximately 45 to 70 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County in the Taiwan Strait, features 73 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD wind turbines installed across three phases: the 294 MW Hai Long 2A, 224 MW Hai Long 2B, and 504 MW Hai Long 3.
The first phase, Hai Long 2A, was completed and connected to the grid at the end of 2025, while all 16 turbines at Hai Long 2B were installed last year. Installation at Hai Long 3 progressed this year, with the first turbine installed in March.
