Baltic Exchange was once again pleased to take part in Shanghai Pudong International Shipping Week 2026, joining industry leaders from across the maritime sector to strengthen international relationships and discuss the future of global shipping.
Held under this year’s theme ‘Steady Shipping, Intelligent Horizons, Shared Ecosystem’, the week explored key industry developments, including digital innovation, supply chain resilience, decarbonisation and sustainability. It also highlighted China’s growing influence in global shipping and Shanghai’s role as an international maritime hub, notably after it ranked second in the 2026 Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Centre Index.
For the Baltic, Shanghai Pudong International Shipping Week 2026 was an opportunity to showcase the importance of the Baltic and its benchmark data to the Chinese shipping community and discuss with like-minded individuals about the importance of collaboration and transparency in driving the global maritime industry forward.
One of the highlights of the week was the 2026 Global Maritime Forum Annual Summit, which the Baltic was pleased to once again be a leading sponsor for. The event also included the official networking dinner, where Baltic CEO Mark Jackson spoke to the hundreds of attendees about the importance of the GMF and its role in helping to push the global shipping community forward on key initiatives and policies. Baltic Head of Membership Jos Standerwick was also present at the summit, which brought together industry leaders to discuss shipping’s energy transition, the IMO’s Net-Zero Framework and the wider challenges facing global trade.
