Asset-tracking company Band24 is seeking businesses to test Terra, a new tracker combining Bluetooth, cellular and satellite connectivity, ahead of a Nov. 13 deadline for its early-access program. The device is designed to help logistics operators maintain visibility into trailers, shipping containers and other equipment in areas with limited network coverage, with commercial availability planned for early 2027. Selected participants are expected to receive their devices in December, though Band24 has not set an exact delivery date.
The company announced Terra on Oct. 6, saying it can track asset location, movement, dwell time, temperature, humidity and tampering. Band24 has opened an early-access program, with selected participants expected to receive devices in December.
“Every business with physical assets has felt this same pain — you can see your equipment until the exact moment it matters most, and then it’s gone dark,” Band24 co-founder and CEO Patrick Patel said in the announcement.
The launch comes as cargo theft continues to be a problem. Verisk’s CargoNet recorded 2,646 confirmed cargo thefts across the United States and Canada in 2025, an 18% increase from 2024. Estimated losses reached nearly $725 million, up 60%, while the average value per theft climbed to $273,990.
