Global container freight rates presented a mixed picture in the latest weekly assessments, with the NYSHEX Freight Index (NYFI) recording increases across all five monitored trade lanes while Drewry’s World Container Index (WCI) and the Freightos Baltic Index (FBX) declined.
The contrasting movements were particularly evident on the Transpacific, where NYFI reported higher rates on both US coasts, while Drewry recorded notable decreases from Shanghai to Los Angeles and New York.
Meanwhile, Chinese container freight benchmarks remained relatively stable, with the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) and China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) edging higher, while the Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) declined.
The SCFI increased approximately 0.16% to 3,687.35 points on 30 October, compared with 3,681.34 in the previous assessment.
