Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have awarded DEME a contract to transport and install 69 wind turbines at the first phase of the 2 GW Zeevonk offshore wind project in the Dutch North Sea.
The award expands DEME’s role in the project, following a contract earlier this year to transport and install foundations for the first Zeevonk phase.
For the wind turbine installation work, DEME will use Norse Energi, one of the company’s new vessels equipped with a 3,200-tonne crane and built to transport and install next-generation wind turbines and XXL monopiles in water depths of up to 70 metres.
In addition to the foundation and turbine installation contracts awarded to DEME, the developers have secured several other major supply and installation agreements for the first phase. EEW Special Pipe Constructions (EEW SPC) will supply 69 monopile foundations using a transition-piece-less design. Dutch cable manufacturer TKF will supply inter-array cables that will be installed by Boskalis.
