Diesel fuel’s national average price is above $6 per gallon for the eighth consecutive week, while spot market rates are generally following seasonal expectations, softening during the most recent week.

Compared to the same week in 2025, diesel's nearly 68% higher, while all-in spot rates sit roughly 41.5% higher, according to FTR and Truckstop.com’s weekly report.

During the week ending Nov. 2, the Energy Information Administration reported diesel’s national average at $6.29/gal., down 6 cents from the week prior -- but still $2.54/gal. higher than a year ago.

The good news: All regions across the nation saw fuel-price decline over the week, led by a 7.9-cent decline in California, the state that had the most to give. The Golden State remains home to the most expensive diesel by a large margin at $8.08/gal. The cheapest diesel, meanwhile, is in the Lower Atlantic region at $5.81/gal.
