For the first time, container trading and leasing company Dutch Container Merchants (DCM) will exhibit at Intermodal Europe 2026 with its own stand (D81). The Amsterdam-based family business is ready to meet the industry face to face and showcase its container offering When Rogier Vervoort founded Dutch Container Merchants in 2019, he brought more than 30 years of experience to the industry. The ambition: to become the most reliable partner for businesses navigating international trade. Today, DCM offers container solutions across Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
At the core of DCM’s trading and leasing business are Shipper Owned Containers (S.O.C.). These offer more freedom than carrier-owned containers (C.O.C.), which shippers rent equipment from the shipping line. Leave equipment in port for too long or return it late, and demurrage and detention charges can cost companies hundreds of euros per day. With S.O.C., the container belongs to the shipper or is leased independently, so those carrier penalties don’t apply.
That freedom pays off. On one-way moves, there’s no costly return of an empty container. At the original destination, the container can be resold, reused for a new freight movement or used as storage.
