Egypt’s energy infrastructure grows as two new offshore platforms slide into place
Petroleum Marine Services (PMS) has installed two offshore platforms at North Sinai’s gas field, boosting Egypt's energy infrastructure arsenal.
Egyptian marine and offshore services provider Petroleum Marine Services (PMS) has wrapped up the installation of two platforms as part of Phase Four of a gas field development off the coast of Egypt, paving the way for the fifth phase and supporting efforts to meet the country’s growing domestic gas demand.
PMS has completed the installation of two offshore production platforms, Hoor-1/2 and KSE-1, as part of Phase Four of the development project at the Kamose offshore gas field, operated by North Sinai Petroleum Company (NOSPCO), in line with the objectives of the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to increase natural gas production.
Petroleum Marine Services emphasizes that this installation supports plans to develop natural gas fields and strengthen the country’s offshore petroleum infrastructure. The Hoor-1/2 offshore platform is designed to accommodate two wells, with the first to be drilled as part of the current fourth phase of the project, while the second will be spudded during the upcoming fifth phase.
PMS’ scope of work included the installation of two production platforms, each weighing 575 tonnes, with a total weight of 1,150 tonnes. These operations were carried out using the company’s own PMS-12 offshore barge and supporting marine units, in full compliance with the highest quality and safety standards and in accordance with the project’s approved schedule.
