Emirates SkyCargo’s volumes were down 1% in the first half of its 2026-2027 financial year, but the carrier seized business opportunities presented by the Middle East conflict to increase cargo revenue by 50%.
The cargo division of Emirates transported 1.24m tonnes in the period spanning 1 April-30 September, down 1% from 1.25m tonnes in the same period last year.
In comparison, cargo revenue, which was not published, increased by 52%. The airline said its gains occurred “as the regional conflict reduced available airfreight capacity while concurrently pushing shippers to seek airfreight options due to marine transport disruptions”.
Meanwhile, passenger operations were hit hard by the Middle East conflict. The airline recorded half-year profit before tax of AED3.7bn ($1bn), down 68%, and revenue of AED56.9bn ($15.5bn), down 13%.
