Austrian heavy logistics specialist Felbermayr has been busy transporting wind turbine components in Romania since the beginning of August. The company said it is transporting components for a total of 42 wind turbines, with 81-metre rotor blades, pushing the vehicle combinations used for the job up to 92 metres. Felbermayr said it is using 4-axle tractors to move the rotor blades. The technology is specifically adapted to the components’ dimensions.
Components are being transported from the port of Agigea, near Constanța, to the project site in Smeeni, Buzău. According to Felbermayr, four different routes are available for the project, with planning and preparation carried out months in advance.
“In particular, roundabouts, narrow sections of the route and other traffic facilities along the route had to be taken into account in the planning. A large part of the transports therefore take place at night,” the company said.
Currently, Felbermayr is delivering components for two wind turbines per week to the project site.
