GEODIS is expanding its electric vehicle operations in Australia with the addition of a Volvo FM Electric Prime Mover. The new truck will support container transportation between Sydney’s Port Botany and Volvo’s local warehouse.
The vehicle marks GEODIS’ entry into electric-powered container haulage in Australia. It also becomes the third electric truck in the company’s Australian fleet.
The Volvo FM Electric will primarily transport full container loads carrying Volvo cargo from Port Botany to the manufacturer’s warehouse. GEODIS expects the truck to complete approximately 850 trips annually on this route.
These operations will account for around 63% of the vehicle’s available capacity. Meanwhile, GEODIS will use the remaining capacity to support its new warehouse in Minto, located next to Volvo’s facility.
