German authorities have rated Mein Schiff 3’s recent collision with two cargo ships in Bremerhaven a “serious casualty.”
The classification comes from the Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation (BSU), part of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Transport, which lists the case among its ongoing investigations.
This is the second most severe category in its classification, with only a “very serious casualty” ranking higher on its five-level scale.
The ship collided with two cargo ships, the MSC Victorine and MSC Anne F, while leaving Bremerhaven in stormy conditions on Sunday, October 25, with 2,428 guests and 922 crew members onboard, who disembarked on Monday morning.
