Yesterday (October 21), HLPFI welcomed 400 guests for a night of celebration at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel, as the winners of the Heavy Lift Awards 2026 were announced. The eighth edition of the Heavy Lift Awards brought the project cargo community together for an evening celebrating outstanding achievements across the industry. The awards recognised the companies, teams and individuals delivering excellence in heavy transport, complex logistics and engineering projects worldwide.

deugro delivered four ball valves across three consecutive air charter flights to the UAE. Its scope of work covered the complete multimodal, door to door transportation of the valves – utilising various aircraft types and specialised truck and trailer configurations – from the production facility in Scotland to the project site in Abu Dhabi, all executed within the shortest achievable transit time.

Mammoet was selected as the winner of this year’s Editors’ Choice Award for the relocation of the historic 20th century Kiruna Church in Kiruna, Sweden, which – along with other buildings – had to be moved to a newly developed town 5 km away due to the expansion of a nearby mine.

The company had to work with very limited architectural information about the church, with no technical drawings of the building, its foundations or its weight. The task demanded over 1,000 hours of meticulous planning and engineering, with Mammoet deploying 28 axle lines of SPMTs and a deflection monitoring system (DMS), which had been newly developed in-house.
