HHLA lowers its 2026 earnings outlook following weaker-than-expected Hamburg container throughput, automation disruption and a logistics impairment

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) has lowered its operating profit forecast for 2026, citing weaker-than-expected container throughput at its Hamburg terminals, disruption caused by strikes and a non-cash impairment in its Logistics segment.

The company’s executive board revised its outlook following an assessment of business performance to date and updated estimates for the fourth quarter of 2026. The adjustment reflects operational challenges and a review of investments in new and spin-off business activities.

HHLA said a review of its equity investment portfolio, undertaken as part of its strategic focus on core operations, had resulted in a non-cash impairment loss of approximately €12 million in the Logistics segment.
