In this interview with STAT Trade Times, Gerhard Coetzee of Chapman Freeborn discusses the growing cargo opportunities across Central Asia and the CIS region, driven by infrastructure investments and rising activity in the mining, oil and gas sectors.

He explains why air charters are playing an important role in moving oversized, out-of-gauge and time-critical cargo, particularly in markets where scheduled air freight capacity remains limited.

Coetzee also discusses how recurring charter demand could indicate the need for future scheduled freighter services, the challenges of aircraft availability and fuel costs, and the infrastructure and ground-handling requirements that need to improve to support the region's growth.
