USA: The United States International Trade Commission has determined that US manufacturers have been materially injured by couplers and parts from the Czech Republic and India being sold in the USA at less than fair value and subsidised by the government of India.

On October 16, USITC said antidumping orders would be imposed on imports of the products from Czech Republic and India and a countervailing duty order on imports from India.

The Coalition of Freight Coupler Producers had filed petitions with the US Department of Commerce and the USITC in July 2025, requesting antidumping and countervailing duties following what it said were ‘significant volumes of unfairly priced imports’ of wagon couplers from the Czech Republic and India.

The USITC’s decision ‘is a major victory for the US industry’, said Daniel Pickard, lead counsel to the petitioner and law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s International Trade & National Security practice group leader. ‘The domestic industry has suffered real harm due to significant volumes of unfairly priced imports of Czech and Indian freight rail couplers. Today’s determination is a critical step toward restoring fair pricing in the marketplace and protecting American producers.’
