The Department of Commerce has extended Component II of the RELIEF export-support scheme until 31 March 2027, as disruptions in West Asia continue to affect maritime logistics across the Middle East, as per an official press release. The measure encourages exporters to obtain cover from the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) for eligible shipments to specified markets. Eligible exporters will receive 95 per cent risk coverage, while insurance premiums are protected from increases beyond pre-disruption levels during the covered period. The extension applies to standalone and whole-turnover policies obtained on or after 16 March 2026. Coverage includes full container load, less than container load, and refrigerated container shipments. Exporters must submit claims through ECGC portal. The scheme addresses higher freight costs, insurance premiums, and war-related export risks, the release added.
