Keku Bomi Gazder, CEO & MD, Aviapro Logistic Services, said, “The biggest challenge is maintaining an uninterrupted temperature-controlled environment from farm to aircraft and to the destination. Limited packhouses, pre-cooling facilities, refrigerated transportation and airport cold-storage infrastructure increase the risk of spoilage. Temperature deviations, sometimes even by 2°–3°C, can affect product quality and shelf life. High fuel costs, handling charges, limited freighter capacity, and fragmented logistics add to the overall cost of transporting perishables. India needs to prioritise integrated cold chain infrastructure, real-time IoT-based temperature monitoring, digital tracking, faster customs clearance, and coordination among farmers, forwarders, and airlines.”
