Katoen Natie has inaugurated a pair of 150-tonne capacity all-electric Konecranes Gottwald MHCs at the port of Antwerp, Belgium.
Altogether, six cranes were ordered in the first and last quarters of 2025, to be deployed for Katoen Natie’s operations at its three deepsea multipurpose terminals in the port of Antwerp. The order comprises four ESP.9 Konecranes Gottwald MHCs, each with a maximum lifting capacity of 200 tonnes, along with two ESP.8 models which each have a 150-tonne lifting capacity.
The two ESP.8 MHCs were officially inaugurated during the middle of October. Each crane features a Konecranes all-electric drive system that integrates an external power supply with rechargeable batteries. All six models are equipped with remote condition monitoring.
“Investing in our first fully electric mobile harbour cranes is a forward-looking choice that prepares our operations for the future,” said Vincent Vandecauter, business unit manager port operations at Katoen Natie.
