KONGSBERG has launched two new sonar systems designed to improve underwater surveillance, navigation and the protection of critical maritime infrastructure.

The Norwegian technology group introduced the Aegir17 and Aegir57N, expanding its Aegir Subsea Situational Awareness (SSA) family to three commercially available models.

The systems are intended for applications including port security, fixed maritime installations and uncrewed surface vessels. They build on sonar technology originally developed for commercial maritime operations.

The expansion follows the introduction of the first Aegir SSA model, Aegir57, at ONS 2026 in August. According to KONGSBERG, all three systems are now available to order, with the first commercial Aegir delivery scheduled for November.
