KTZ Express, the freight forwarding subsidiary of Kazakh Railways (KTZ) has organised a container shipment from Kazakhstan to the Mexican Port of Veracruz. KTZ is reaching ever-more destinations across the world “beyond traditional sales markets”. KTZ Express presented the shipment as part of an effort to expand the geography of its international transportation services. The company handled the transport from Almaty (southern Kazakhstan) to Poti (Georgia), including the crossing of the Caspian Sea. On the way, the containers pass through the Azerbaijani Port of Alat.
From Poti, shipping giant Maersk carries the containers to Veracruz. KTZ Express refused to disclose the number of containers involved and the expected transit time.
KTZ Express linked the development of these export shipments to growing interest in Kazakh goods beyond their traditional sales markets. The Veracruz shipment follows similar export projects. In February 2025, KTZ Express sent non-raw material freight via the Middle Corridor all the way to Houston, Texas. This was the first transatlantic shipment for the company. KTZ launched a door-to-door service to Belgium and started shipping to Africa as well.
Most recently, in July 2026, KTZ Express organised a container shipment of mineral fertilisers from Ekibastuz to the British port of Felixstowe. That time, it also crossed the Caspian Sea and travelled through Azerbaijan and Georgia, before continuing by sea from Poti and Batumi. In both cases, the Georgian ports served as the gateway to maritime transportation for Kazakh freight.
