MSC has reportedly ordered three 21,700 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) in China, according to DynaLiners.
Each vessel is understood to be priced at approximately US$210 million. Deliveries are scheduled for March, July and November 2029.
If confirmed, the latest order will increase MSC’s newbuilding programme at SWS to 13 vessels.
The reported deal represents another expansion of the carrier’s ultra-large container ship orderbook, with the vessels designed to operate on both LNG and conventional marine fuels.
