Spanish railway infrastructure manager Adif has awarded the operating contract for the Vitoria-Júndiz intermodal rail terminal to a consortium comprising MEDLOG Spain Logistic, part of the MSC Group, the port authorities of Bilbao and Pasaia, and regional institutions in Álava.
The contract has an initial duration of six years, with the possibility of extensions up to a maximum of 20 years. The TERMINAL INTERMODAL JÚNDIZ joint venture plans to handle approximately 300,000 intermodal transport units (ITUs) during the initial six-year period.
The award is expected to strengthen rail freight connectivity between the Basque Country’s ports and inland logistics networks, supporting the development of the Atlantic Corridor and improving access to European markets.
MEDLOG holds the largest stake in the consortium at 40%, followed by the Bilbao Port Authority with 25%.
